Sixth Form Admissions

What subjects do we offer?

Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to nurture individual interests and instill a passion for learning, providing a solid foundation for university studies and the world of work beyond.

Subject choices

Usually, students choose to study three core courses in the first year, which are examined internally at the end of Year 12, and then proceed to the full Advanced level in three courses in Year 13. If appropriate a student can opt for a 4th subject in Year 12 to allow some time initially to decide which course is best for them but this will be decided in September

All students that have not achieved a grade C or 4 or better in English and / or Mathematics will have to re sit the subjects and be entered for examination in line with Government legislation.

Whatever the combination of subjects you choose, the emphasis is on personal endeavour, intellectual curiosity and preparation for life beyond Belper School.

Choosing your A-level (or equivalent) subjects carefully is really important – especially if you have aspirations to study at a leading university. The Russell Group’s guide, Informed Choices, includes advice from admissions professionals on the best subject combinations for a wide range of university courses as well as the best choices for students who want to keep their options open.

How to apply to the Sixth Form ?

All applicants will be asked to complete an application form or online application form by December 4th 2023. Internal students will have an interview with a member of the Sixth Form Team in December. External students will be interviewed in January.  The interviews will be a positive and friendly experience and a chance for students to let us know a little bit more about themselves and raise any issues they may have. We will be able after the interview to give a conditional offer; however, final confirmation will be given after the interview process has been completed. Applications after this date are still possible but may have an impact on the availability of courses.

Our prospectus is available online by clicking the link opposite or from the main school office. If you would like us to send out a copy or have any other general questions about the Sixth Form please contact us at sixthform@belperschool.co.uk
