Sixth Form Admissions

Sixth Form Open Evening – Thursday 16 November 2017 5.30pm – 7.30pm

This evening is designed to provide you with:

  • An opportunity to find out all you need to know about the subjects available Post-16 at Belper School Sixth Form. Subject leaders will be available to discuss the course content, methods of assessment and outline the necessary skills and qualities that will be developed throughout their course.
  • The evening will begin with a presentation in the Main School Hall offering a brief overview of the options open to students at BelperSchool next year.

In order to make the evening more personal and manageable we have arranged two separate

presentation sessions:

Session 1 at 5.30pm: for Tutor Groups 11MLK, 11JRS, 11EMB, 11MPB

Session 2 at 6.10pm:  for Tutor Groups 11GSB, 11SWG, 11LMA

Students from other schools can join in either session.

  • Eleanor Snape the School Careers Co-ordinator will also be at the event. Eleanor can provide guidance on all options open to students after year 11 including alternative full-time education routes and apprenticeships.
  • A detailed prospectus and details of the option blocks.
What subjects do we offer?

Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to nurture individual interests and instil a passion for learning, providing a solid foundation for university studies and the world of work beyond.

Subject choices

Usually, students choose to study three core AS courses in the first year, which are examined at the end of Year 12, and then proceed to the full Advanced level in three courses in Year 13. If appropriate a student can opt for a 4th AS in Year 12 to allow some time initially to decide which course is best for them but this will be decided in September

All students that have not achieved a grade C or 4 or better in English and / or Mathematics will have to resit the subjects and be entered for examination in line with Government legislation.

Whatever the combination of subjects you choose, the emphasis is on personal endeavour, intellectual curiosity and preparation for life beyond Belper School.

How do I Apply to the Sixth Form?

In November both internal and external students are invited to attend our Open Evening in November . This is an ideal opportunity to meet with subject teachers and to discuss the courses available.  We are always happy to provide a tour of the school for any external student and parents and these can be arranged through the Sixth Form Team. Current students in Year 11 will be asked to complete an application form and will have an interview with a member of the Sixth Form Team in December. External students will be interviewed in January.  The interviews will be a positive and friendly experience and a chance for students to let us know a little bit more about themselves and raise any issues they may have. We will be able after the interview to give a conditional offer; however, final confirmation will be given after the interview process has been completed.

A copy of our Prospectus for 2017 entry can be accessed by clicking the image below. An updated version for 2018 will follow the Open Evening and the application forms will be available from the 16th November; in the meantime if you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact us at sixthform@belperschool.co.uk
