What subjects do we offer?
Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to nurture individual interests and instil a passion for learning, providing a solid foundation for university studies and the world of work beyond.
Usually, students choose to study three core AS courses in the first year, which are examined at the end of Year 12, and then proceed to the full Advanced level in three courses in Year 13. If appropriate a student can opt for a 4th AS in Year 12 to allow some time initially to decide which course is best for them.
All students that have not achieved a grade C or better in English and / or Mathematics will have to resit the subjects and be entered for examination in line with Government legislation.
Whatever the combination of subjects you choose, the emphasis is on personal endeavour, intellectual curiosity and preparation for life beyond Belper School.
How do I Apply to the Sixth Form?
In November both internal and external students are invited to attend our Open Evening. This is an ideal opportunity to meet with subject teachers and to discuss the courses available. We are always happy to provide a tour of the school for any external student and parents and these can be arranged through the Sixth Form Team. Current students in Year 11 will be asked to complete an application form and will have an interview with a member of the Sixth Form Team in December. External students will be interviewed in January. The interviews will be a positive and friendly experience and a chance for students to let us know a little bit more about themselves and raise any issues they may have. We will be able after the interview to give a conditional offer; however, final confirmation will be given after the interview process has been completed.
A copy of our Prospectus can be accessed by clicking the image below and the application forms will be available from the 14th November; in the meantime if you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Belper School has re assessed its entry requirements to Level 3 courses offered by our Sixth Form Centre in light of the publication of new and more challenging Level 3 courses. The entry requirements for the 2017-2019 are available from the link below. Any queries regarding this should be directed to the Sixth Form Team at the school in the first instance.
In addition when considering your application we shall look carefully at all of the following factors:
● The recommendation you have from the school / your previous school / college and subject teachers.
● Your general school / college report or Record of Achievement.
● Your estimated (or actual) examination grades.
● The contribution you are likely to make to the life of the Sixth Form and your embodiment of the school ethos.
